Monument to the Victims of Communism in Ottawa - Canada
Communist Sign the petition to support the building of a Monument to the Victims of Communism, in Ottawa, Canada

To: Parliament of Canada
While the horrors of Nazism are well known, who knows that the Soviet Union murdered 20 million people? Who knows that China's dictators have slaughtered an estimated 60 million? Who knows that the Communist holocaust has exacted a death toll surpassing that of all of the wars of the 20th century combined ? Just as we must grasp Communism's brutality, we must understand the true cause of this era's most significant event: the fall of the Soviet Union. While we believe that Vaclav Havel was right when he saw the fall of the Communist empire as an event on the same scale as the fall of the Roman Empire, it was not the end of Communism. Boycott of Greek products in Albania
Boycott of Greek products in Albania!

Albanian nationalists, who accuse Greece of turning the country into a non-conventional colony of Greece, are using the protest to halt the rising power of Greece in the country. In 2006 Greek Imports reached EUR 406mn, while Greek investments are estimated at over EUR 400mn. Greek companies and businesses own substantial shares in the telecommunication, petroleum and financial markets in the country. Strong protests were organized by the "Cham" population, ethnic Albanians that used to live in the territory of current Greece till the end of World War II. Afterwards, they forcedly expelled from their properties. Therefore we call on you to Boycott greek products in Albania

Facts not politics, learn the truth about Libertas

    Read inside:
  • Many Questions answered by Libertas of Mr. Declan Ganley and his role on Anglo Adriatic Investment Fund

  • “Libertas is a Eurosceptic organisation”
Mr. Declan Ganley - a successful entrepreneur, is leading the Irish "No" campaign

Libertas is not a Eurosceptic organisation. Libertas is passionately pro-European. We believe that the European Union is one of the most worthwhile, and laudable political projects in  history, and we are proud to be able to make some contribution to its future success.

We believe that the growth in Euroscepticism over the past decade threatens the future of the European project. We believe that the widespread and justified concerns about the lack of democracy in the European Union must be addressed now, at this moment, if the project is to sustain the widespread support of the people of Europe, as it should.

Our vision is of a united Europe, which recognises and respects the right of citizens and nations to choose their own destinies, but which encourages all Europeans to reach across the borders of nationality, language, and culture to participate in and invigorate a Union which equips us to meet the challenges of this next phase of European History.

We do not see this ambition in Brussels today. Instead we see an unaccountable elite determined to bulldoze over the expressed will of the people of France, The Netherlands, Ireland and all the peoples  of Europe. We see an out of touch clique that is unwilling to acknowledge that they are fuelling Euroscepticism by their unwillingness to listen, and change.

Libertas is not nor will ever be Eurosceptic, but we will listen to Eurosceptics and all other opinion groups with the utmost respect.

  • Bush and Putin aren't so friendly anymore

  • IGOETI, Georgia (Reuters) - A Russian military

The advance of about 17 armored personnel carriers (APCs) and about 200 soldiers coincided with a visit by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to secure Georgia's signature on a French-brokered peace plan to end the fighting.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said tanks had also advanced on another two towns -- Khashari and Borjomi -- in central Georgia, but the information could not be independently verified.

Remarks by Javier SOLANA

    Remarks by Javier SOLANA,
EU High Representative for the CFSP,
on the verdict of the International Court of Justice in The Hague
concerning the direct responsibility of the Serbian government for genocide in Bosnia during the 1992-95 war

Javier SOLANA, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy
    EU Flag
(CFSP), made today the following comments on the judgement of the International Court of Justice concerning the application of the Convention on the

Exclusively for ACLIS from PRESSE CABINET

Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (Bosnia and Herzegovina v. Serbia and Montenegro):

"Today's verdict of The Hague Tribunal is to be welcomed. We accept it, and we think that it will contribute to close the debates of a dramatic history that was very painful and very damaging for many people. I expect that the parties concerned in the region will accept, fully respect and implement all aspects of the judgement.

I have not yet studied the verdict in detail, but there is one thing that I would like to underline: There is no collective punishment. It is good that, in the end, the highest tribunal in the world has closed that page and I hope that this will help the final reconciliation of the peoples of the Balkans."

    Senate defeat on foreign policy.

Prodi's last spell in power almost a decade ago was also cut short by far-left coalition allies. This time they rebelled over keeping Italian troops in Afghanistan and allowing the expansion of a U.S. military base in Italy.

President Giorgio Napolitano accepted Prodi's resignation but Prodi may stay in power.

Napolitano, who will consult politicians on Thursday, could stop short of calling an election and ask for a parliamentary confidence vote in Prodi. He could also ask another leader to form a governing coalition.

The West should buy Afghanistan’s opium crop

Cheap heroin is beginning to appear on Britain's streets just a few months after a record crop of
    A deadly harvest in Afganistan
opium poppies was harvested under the noses of the UK's beleaguered garrison in Afghanistan. The sticky resin scraped into packages by the farmers in Helmand sells for £55 a kilo at source.

By IAN BRUCE, Defence Correspondent , The Herald

At the user end of the chain it can fetch up to £100 a gramme - but the glut available now means street prices have fallen to just £28 a gramme, increasing the prospect of more youngsters becoming hooked.

The illegal narcotics trade accounts for up to 40% of the Afghan gross national product, and is often the only viable source of income in drought-stricken rural communities. The Taliban does not grow it: the insurgents leave that to ordinary people scrabbling to make a living. The only real winners, say the UN, are about 30 powerfully connected drug lords in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, Albania and Kosovo.
